Congratulations to Western Surety's Brent Oshanek, who has been appointed General Manager, West and an officer of the company.

The change follows recent retirements in the firm.

“Brent is one of the company's most senior staff,” says President and CEO Scott Donald.

“Over the years he has accepted every challenge that came his way. Although he has been focused on BC activity in the recent past, he has in fact lent his expertise and support to our offices and staff across the country.”

Brent was formerly Senior Regional Manager for British Columbia. In his new position he will be supported by an underwriting staff of seven, and will directly oversee surety business in Western Canada, while continuing to provide senior advice to Western Surety offices in Ontario and Nova Scotia.

In his 25 years with Western Surety, Brent has moved through progressive roles, and has become a major representative of the company within the Canadian surety industry.

Brent holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Certified Management Accounting (CMA) designation.

• There are 5 awards – each award will be $1,000 to be deposited directly to an RESP.
• 1 RESP per family; a family can apply for more than one child, but if an award is granted the $1,000 will be shared among the children in the family.
• One head of household must be a surety division employee of a Western Surety Company contracted broker.
• Children for whom the RESP applies must be under 18 years of age.
