Paul J. Hill, Chairman of Western Surety Company, named to the Order Of Canada

Canada Day was extra special this year for Western Surety Company’s Chairman of the Board of Directors and shareholder, Paul J. Hill, as he was appointed to the Order of Canada by Governor General David Johnston for his achievements as a business leader and for his generous contributions to community and education initiatives in Canada. Some of the other businesses within The Hill Group of Companies include real estate development and management, oil and gas, recycling and broadcasting.

As the third generation of the Hill family, Mr. Hill credits his philanthropic efforts to his father and grandfather before him, as well as the contributions of the many dedicated people who surround him in business today.

“What I’ve been able to do in my lifetime is make a significant contribution, but it’s not just me,” he said. “I may have some good ideas and I may be able to help facilitate, but none of these things happen without a lot of dedicated people who really do the work every day.”

The Order of Canada is a Canadian national order, admission into which is the second highest honour for merit in the system of orders, decorations, and medals of Canada. It comes second only to membership in the Order of Merit, which is within the personal gift of Canada's monarch.

Western Surety Company is proud to be part of the Hill Companies and we congratulate Paul Hill on his most recent honour. A most distinguished honour indeed!
